Less CO2 emissions

Battery-powered vehicles help fight climate change. Fossil fuel vehicles are big polluters, accounting for one-fifth of our country’s CO2 emissions. Electric vehicles emit comparatively much less CO2. Milieu Centraal, for example, calculated that a mid-range electric car emits 32,300 kilograms of CO2 over its lifetime, while a comparable car running on diesel or gasoline produces 53,100 kilograms of CO2. That’s a difference of as much as 40%. The calculation assumes gray-green electricity. Electricity is becoming ever greener, so the difference between driving on electricity and fossil fuels will become even greater in the future. An electric vehicle also does not emit particulate matter or nitrogen oxide and thus contributes to a better environment and air quality.

Cleaner and greener, battery included

A well-known prejudice is that the environmental benefits of electric driving are negated by the production of the batteries. However, this is incorrect. The above calculation by Milieu Centraal already takes into account the production of the battery. Producing a battery does indeed release CO2. For a battery for an electric car this is about 5100 kilograms. However, this is compensated by the fact that electric vehicles are much more fuel efficient. With an EV, the extra CO2 emissions from the battery are wiped out within 3.5 years (or 40,500 kilometers) of driving. In addition, electric transportation is even cheaper with our batteries. This is because our batteries are very competitively priced and have a long service life.

EV batteries increasingly sustainable

Our batteries for EVs are becoming cleaner, more powerful and more durable. In addition, many metals are extracted from old batteries and reused.
